“I don’t know anyone in the world who supports and defends Saudi Arabia without taking bribe,” this was declared by German chancellor Angela Merkel on Monday.
“Everyone who supports Saudi Arabia receives his money in advance. Everyone who sells weapons to Saudi Arabia has received double-fold.” Merkel added. “I was surprised that the Saudi Arabia’s money could not prevent the passage of US Congress bill but Republican and Democrat parties have hoped to offset their costs by Saudi Arabia’s princes in US Presidential Election 2016.”
“Germany will be the first country which will prefer its interests and national security to Saudi Arabia’s bribes.” Merkel declared.
Saudi Arabia has been accused of funding radical extremism across the globe by one of Germany’s top politicians.
Vice Chancellor Sigmar Gabriel told the German newspaper Bild am Sonntag that it should be made clear to the kingdom that the time for looking the other way has passed.
“Wahhabi mosques are being funded by Saudi Arabia all over the world. Many dangerous Islamists come from these communities in Germany,” Gabriel said, bundesergierung.de reported.
In a statement, the Saudi Arabia embassy in Berlin said the Kingdom was interested in countering the radicalization of young people and referred to a previous statement in which it denied wanting to build 200 mosques in Germany, Reuters reported last year.
