Tehran, Oct 18, IRNA Majlis members agreed with a plan to follow up the investigation process of the legal cases pertaining to Irans rights in the US.

During the Tuesday morning session of the Iranian parliament, 182 representatives voted in favor of the plan.
According to the plan the Iranian lawmakers invest into the messures made by the government to file suits against the US at the international circles.

Iran has officially registered a complaint against US to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in June, 2016, for the US seizure of about two billion dollars of assets belonged to Iran's Central Bank.

The lawsuit was made with regard to a dispute concerning violations by the Government of the United States of America of the Treaty of Amity, Economic Relations, and Consular Rights between Iran and the United States of America which was signed in Tehran on 15 August 1955 and entered into force on 16 June 1957.

According to the Treaty, Iran says, the US had no right to take unilateral action to seize Iranian assets.

Iran's lawsuit said that US 'has adopted a number of legislative and executive acts that have the practical effect of subjecting the assets and interests of Iran and Iranian entities, including those of the Central Bank of Iran (also known as Bank Markazi), to enforcement proceedings in the United States, even where such assets or interests are found to be held by separate juridical entities.

Tehran argued that the above-mentioned enactments and decisions breach a number of provisions' of the Treaty of Amity.

The plan approved by the Iranian lawmakers today, allows them to investigate over legal proceedings which have been made so far by the Iranian government to follow up cases filed against the US and also to follow up verdicts which have been issued so far to this end by the international courts.

Since the victory of the 1979 Islamic Revolution in Iran, Tehran has filed four lawsuits with the ICJ.

The first one of the series happened when the US complained to the ICJ over hostage taking incident of its embassy staff in Tehran only a few years after the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

Iran never took the case into consideration.

Another case goes back to 1988 when Iran Air Flight 655 was shot down by the United States Navy guided missile cruiser USS Vincennes on July 3, 1988.

The incident happened in Iran's airspace over its territorial waters in the Persian Gulf.

The third case relates to US attacks to Iran's Salman and Nasr platforms in the Persian Gulf. Iran complained to the ICJ but the final verdict was in favor of the US.
