Vietnamese president: Tehran, Hanoi support promotion of peace

Hanoi, Oct 6, IRNA –President of Vietnam Trần Đại Quang said on Thursday that Iran and Vietnam support promotion of peace both at regional and international levels.

He made the remarks while addressing a joint press conference after a bilateral meeting with President Hassan Rouhani who is in Hanoi for a three-day visit on the first leg of his three-nation tour which is to take him later to Malaysia and Thailand respectively.

The Vietnamese president said he had friendly and clear talks on issues of mutual interests and discussed ways to promote bilateral cooperation in the fields of making joint economic and trade investments.

He also stressed that Hanoi is against intervening in affairs of a third country.

Pesident Tran Dai Quang also said that his country supports President Rouhani’s WAVE initiative for elimination of extremism and violence at the international level.

He hoped that Tehran and Hanoi will cooperate for establishment of peace and peaceful settlement of differences in the region and for restoring peace which is a requisite for economic development.

The Vietnamese president also urged bilateral cooperation in the fields of exports of agro products, rice, textiles and garments to Iran by Hanoi in exchange for imports of dried fruits, petrochemicals and technical and engineering services from Tehran.
He said both sides agreed to raise volume of trade ties up to two billion dollars.

The two sides also agreed to provide facilities for Iranian and Vietnamese companies in the fields of trade, economy, IT, energy, telecommunications and information, science, technology, banking, tourism, culture and education, he concluded.
