Tehran, Sept 14, IRNA - Secretary of Iran's High Council for Human Rights affiliated to the Judiciary has expressed the country's readiness to help Italy fight against terrorism.


Javad Larijani made the remarks in a meeting held in Rome on Wednesday with President of the Senate of Italy Pietro Grasso.

Larijani arrived in the Italian capital on Tuesday. His meeting with Grasso was the third round of talks on judicial issues and human rights between the two countries.

During the talks, Larijani described Tehran-Rome relations as historical and the third round of human rights dialogue as a good indication of interaction in that area.

The talks, he said, were focused on serious, specific and important issues and free from prejudice or making pre-judgments.

The Iranian jurists found the opportunity to exchange their important judicial experiences with their Italian counterparts, Larijani said adding that Iran attaches great importance to its cordial ties with Italy.

He further hoped that the two capitals would strengthen bilateral cooperation regarding new conditions created after the landmark nuclear deal was signed between Iran and the world six major powers in July 2015.

'Iran is pioneer in fight against terrorism,' Larijani went on to say while turning to the issue of terrorism as a serious question to the entire world.

'Iran does not accept dividing terrorists into good and bad terrorists,' he stressed.

For his part, Grasso said his country highly respects Iran and is strongly determined to develop ties with Tehran in all fields.

He further welcomed continuation of the human rights and judicial talks between the two sides.

He further described terrorism as a serious threat noting that cooperation with Iran would be effective in fight against the vicious phenomenon.

Judicial talks beteen Iran and Italy started two years ago in Syracuse, Sicily, Italy.

The second round of the talks on Judicial issues and human rights were held last year in Tehran.
