Embassy to Malaysia issues travel warning for Zika virus

TEHRAN, Sep. 08 (MNA) After numerous cases of Zica infection in Malaysia and Singapore were officially confirmed, Irans mission in Kuala Lumpur issued a warning demanding cancellation of unnecessary travels to the region.

Protecting family members from mosquito bites, keeping living areas and children playgrounds hygiene, abstaining from unnecessary travels to infected areas, and immediate visiting doctor if having symptoms of fever, rash, eye sore are the ways advised by Irans embassy to Kuala Lumpur warning Iranian citizens from Zika virus.

The warning is issued after three cases of Zika virus has been officially confirmed by Malaysian authorities. The last case was confirmed on Wednesday when Malaysian Health Minister Subramaniam Sathasivam told a press conference that a 27-year-old pregnant woman has been found carrying the virus in the southern city of Johor Bahru, near Singapore, which has already recorded 275 cases of Zika infection.

The virus infection is transmitted either by the Aedes aegypti mosquito or by sexual intercourse with an infected partner.
