Iran dismisses US think tank's claims about secret exemptions after N. deal

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran rejected claims by a US think tank that Washington and its negotiating partners agreed "in secret" to allow Tehran to evade some restrictions in last year's landmark nuclear agreement to meet the deadline for it to start getting relief from economic sanctions.

"Many reports may be released on Iran in different circles, media and national and international think tanks," Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi told reporters in Tehran on Monday.

"They (the Americans) have not given any special advantages and appeasements to us and we havent either given or agreed on anything beyond what has been declared so far," he added.

Before Qassemi, his counterpart at the White House had also rejected the claims.

"The argument that somehow this agreement was implemented before Iran came into compliance is just not true," White House Spokesman Josh Earnest said on September 1.

The report was released by the Institute for Science and International Security.

The think tank claimed that the exemptions were approved by the United States and its negotiating partners -- Russia, China, Britain, France, and Germany.

This is while the Iranian officials have complained of the US disloyalty to the nuclear deal and its lagging in dull implementation of the agreement.

Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei underlined in August that the experience of negotiations with Washington on the nuclear issue and the other side's disloyalty to its undertakings proved that the US governments can never be trusted in any respect.

"This experience teaches us that promises by no US government can be trusted and nothing concrete should be done in lieu of their promises," Ayatollah Khamenei said in a meeting Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his cabinet ministers in Tehran.

"My criticism pertains to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), non-commitment and the evilness of the other side and it has nothing to do with our own officials because the negotiators have made round-the-clock efforts at their best and we appreciate these efforts," the Supreme Leader added.
