Assigning human rights rapporteur on Iran is politically motivated

Tehran, Sept 5, IRNA Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Qassemi said on Monday that assigning a special human rights rapporteur on Iran is politically motivated.

Qassemi told a press conference that a rapporteur assigned by the signature of the Saudi terrorist and pro-terrorist state is a historical satire and ridiculing the human rights.

'In principle, the Islamic Republic of Iran has objection to assigning rapporteur for Iran by the human rights council and unfortunately, due to false information of certain institutions and organizations and the wrong reports they have given, they have assigned special human rights rapporteur on Iran.'

'Such an unjustified move is not acceptable for Iran.'

On Turkey, he said that the Islamic Republic of Iran has different views with the Turkish government about Syria and that in light of mutual respect and friendship, the difference on Syria could not have impacts on Tehran-Ankara relations.

Good and important meetings were held with Turkish president, prime minister and foreign minister when Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif visited Turkey.'

He said that without coordination with Syrian central government, campaign against terrorism in the Syrian territory by any country is not lawful.

He said that the humanitarian crisis in Syria is complicated and though certain parties consider Syrian issue with good faith, no new solution has yet been put forward.

'On part of the Islamic Republic of Iran certain initiatives were on table and were conveyed to the Syrian and European states and certain governments in the region including Turkey to help settlement of the humanitarian crisis in Syria.'

There are many players in Syria which makes work more difficult; there are also destructive groups whose job is breaking norms; this has made the job difficult.'

On arrest of an Iranian-American individual and the US call for his freedom, he said, 'I am not aware of; the security organs are responsible for any arrest, if any.'

Asked to comment on recent visit of the Omani delegation to Iran, he said the most important distinctive feature of the visit is conclusion and exchange of documents on maritime delimitation.
