Iran ready to assist Russian humanitarian operation in Syria's Aleppo

Iran is ready to cooperate and assist Russia's humanitarian operation in Syria's Aleppo, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Ibrahim Rahimpur said.





BAKU (Sputnik) Russia has been sending tonns ofhumanitarian aid toAleppo and helped open several humanitarian corriders forcivilians tobe able toflee the city and the fighting.
"Of course, we need tocreate conditions fornormal life inAleppo. All the residents ofAleppo and Syria are tired ofthis situation. We are ready toassist the Russian side increating normal living conditions inAleppo and Syria. We are ready tocooperate withthe Russian side," Rahimpur told RIA Novosti.


The deputy minister noted that the issue would be discussed atthe upcoming meeting betweenIranian President Hassan Rouhani and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin inBaku. "There are no limits when it comes todiscussions betweenthe two leaders," he said.


Syria has been mired in proxy war since2011, withgovernment forces loyal toPresident Bashar Assad fighting numerous opposition factions and extremist groups. On February 27, a US-Russia brokered ceasefire came intoforce inSyria. Terrorist groups such asDaesh, aswell asthe al-Nusra Front, both outlawed inRussia and a range ofother states, are not part ofthe deal.
