Russia offers its assistance to Iran in implementation of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on its nuclear program.


MOSCOW (Sputnik) Russia is going tofurther assist Iran inimplementation ofthe Joint Comprehensive Plan ofAction onits nuclear program, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.


"We will further assist our Iranian partners inimplementing the Plan ofAction onIran's nuclear program, including the processing ofenriched uranium and the conversion offacilities toproduce stable isotopes," Putin told the Azerbaijani State News Agency AZERTAC inan interview.


He said that Russian-Iranian nuclear cooperation has become strategic.
"In certain areas, Russian-Iranian cooperation has already become strategic innature. This is particularly true ofthe joint work inthe field ofpeaceful nuclear energy. Irans first nuclear power plant, Bushehr was built onthe basis ofRussian technologies. Plans forthe construction of8 more nuclear power units byRussian specialists inIran have been agreed," the Russian president said.


Putin added that the bilateral trade increased by70 percent sincethe start ofthe year.


"Thus, throughcollective efforts we have managed toincrease the volume ofmutual trade. In the first five months ofthis year, it grew by70 percent, reaching $855 million," Putin said.


On July 14, 2015 Iran and the P5+1 group ofcountries the United States, China, France, Russia and Britain plus Germany signed a Joint Comprehensive Plan ofAction, which guaranteed the peaceful nature ofIran's nuclear program. Iran agreed toadmit theInternational Atomic Energy Agencys (IAEA) inspectors tolocations the agency seeks toverify the absence ofnuclear material and activities inexchange forlifting sanctions that had been damaging its economy foryears.
