TEHRAN (Tasnim) – Commander of Iran’s Army Ground Force said his forces are scheduled to hold three war games in different parts of the country by the end of the current Iranian year (March 2017).
Speaking to reporters in the city of Mashhad on Thursday, Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan said the military exercises are to be held in the country’s southeastern, southwestern and central areas.
He also reassured the nation that full security prevails along the Iranian borders thanks to the broad protective measures by the Army, including the multilayer stationing of forces.
Earlier in April, the top commander unveiled plans for 17 specialized drills in addition to the main war games for practicing tactics in the field of missiles, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), modern warfare, airborne and hostage rescue operations, and preparation for crises and natural disasters.
Iranian Armed Forces perform regular war games across the country to enhance their defense capabilities and test modern military tactics and equipment.
Tehran has repeatedly stated that its military program poses no threat to other countries, reiterating that its defense doctrine is based on deterrence.
