Larijani: Iranian parliament advocates political parties function in Asia

Tehran, July 13, IRNA – Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani said on Wednesday that the Iranian parliament backs the significant role of the Asian political parties.

Larijani made the remarks in a meeting with the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP).

Iranian nation tired of a ill-minded dictator pursued the path of late Imam Khomeini with a revolution to bring religious democracy and to the same reason Iran always supports democratic developments in the region, Larijani said.

Asia is witnessing major economic development and the culture of this continent must be presented to the world, he said.

Referring to the existing challenges in the region, Larijani said one of the challenge is that the enemies try to sow discord among regional countries to attain their sinister goals, he said.

It is very unlikely the western governments to help resolve the issue and the only option is that the regional countries to take proper action to resolve their problems, he said.
Expansion of economic, political, parliamentary and cultural cooperation between
Asian countries will be very useful and this helps unify them, he said.

The Islamic Republic of Iran and Pakistan are longstanding friendly nations willing to broaden relations but certain states sabotage relations between Tehran and Islamabad, he said.

Political parties are pillars of democracy and the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Iran advocates free operation of the political parties to promote democratic rights of the Iranian people, freedom of expression and prevent dictatorship.

Freedom of expression enables the human rights activists to work for the betterment of social life and welfare and create an atmosphere the financial corruption cannot be easily available.
