President Rouhani sends bill on Iran-Thailand agreement to Majlis

Tehran, June 21, IRNA President Hassan Rouhani presented the bill on trade agreement between the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Kingdom of Thailand to Majlis (the Iranian parliament) to undergo the needed legal procedures.

The Iranian and Thai government will take all the needed measures as brought in the bill in accordance with their respective laws and regulation to promote and facilitate trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

In late January, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Thai counterpart Don Pramudwinai in a meeting in Tehran underlined their countries' resolve to broaden cooperation in trade, finance and economy.

'The two countries' state-owned and private sectors have abundant capacities for cooperation within the framework of Iran-Thailand Joint Economic Commission. This can create great opportunities for the two countries in industry and trade, Zarif added.

He welcomed his Thai counterparts visit to Tehran as a positive step in the right direction that could help deepen bilateral ties in different economic fields.

Iran's market can play the role of a hub in transit for Thailands regional trade transactions as well as agricultural-fishery exports, he said

Zarif further said Tehran is also prepared to cooperate with Thailand in security and counter-terrorism efforts.

Pramudwinai, for his part, described the achievements of Thailand-Iran Joint Economic Commission for fostering mutual cooperation as fruitful. He expressed hope that the economic cooperation could expand further.
