Zarif to lead economic delegations to Africa, S America, official

Tehran, June 2, IRNA - Head of Iran Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mine and Agriculture Mohsen Jalalpour said Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif is to lead economic delegations to Africa and South America soon.

Talking to IRNA in Stockholm on Thursday, he noted that Iranian President Hassan Rouhani and his cabinet ministers tend to take economic teams with themselves in all of their trips.

He made the remarks before leaving Sweden at the third leg of the four-nation tour of Foreign Minister Zarif to Europe.

He reiterated that 70% of ambassadors' responsibilities today are related to economic affairs.

He noted that even in some countries like Australia, ministries of foreign affairs and trade have been merged.

Regarding Zarif's highlighted developing private sector activities and implementation of the economic capacities of the JCPOA, he said that the foreign minister especially focused on private sector activities during his current tour.

According to Jalalipour, Venezuela and Brazil in South America and Ghana in Africa are among the countries of interest for the Iranian economic delegations during the future visit of the foreign minister.
