Iran seals deal to export 700,000 barrels of oil per day to Europe

Iranian Petroleum Minister Bijan Namdar Zangeneh said that Iran signed deals to export 700,000 barrels of oil per day to Europe, but the whole volume is not currently taken.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) Iran has concluded a contract toexport 700,000 barrels ofits oil daily tothe European market, Iranian Petroleum Minister Bijan Namdar Zangeneh said.

In late February, Zangeneh stated that Iran's oil exports rose to1.7 million barrels per day afterthe nuclear-related sanctions were lifted.

"Iran has already signed deals toexport 700,000 barrels ofoil per day toEurope, butthe whole volume is not currently taken. I think it may be possible withinthe next few months," the minister was quoted assaying bythe Tehran Times newspaper.

The remark was made followinga meeting withEU Climate Action and Energy Commissioner Miguel Arias Canete inTehran.

Iran has been boosting its oil sales aftera July 2015 deal withthe P5+1 group ofworld powers, comprising Russia, the United States, China, France and the United Kingdom plus Germany, onmonitoring and limiting Tehran's nuclear program inexchange forthe easing ofinternational sanctions.
