IRGC ground force to hold drills in Iran's Southeastern regions

TEHRAN (Tasnim) Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Ground Force Brigadier General Mohammad Pakpour announced on Sunday that a series of security drills codenamed as Payambar-e Azam (Great Prophet) will be held from Tuesday to Thursday in four regions of Iran.





The drills will be held in southeast of the country, including parts of Sistan and Balouchestan province, southern Kerman, southern parts of South Khorasan province, and east of Hormozgan province, General Pakpour said in a press conference held here in Tehran.

The drills are scheduled to begin on April 12 and will last until April 14.

The war games are aimed at maintaining the preparedness of IRGC forces, displaying the countrys might, and ensuring security, Pakpour went on to say.

The drills will be held in Saravan in the first day, in Mirjaveh in the second day, and in Zahedan in the third day, when the commanders of Basij (voluntary forces) and all other participating units will attend the drills," he added.

The IRGC Ground Force Airborne Units that have recently been added to the IRGC Ground Force, will have an effective presence at the war games, the Iranian commander noted.

In military drills, evert country displays parts of its capabilities and capacities to the world, General Pakpour said, stressing that such drills serve as a deterrent against enemies.

Iranian officials have already made it clear that the countrys military program, including the routine exercises and test of new missiles, will not be hampered by anything, including a recent nuclear deal with the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany), which took effect on January 16.
