Larijani: Ongoing security in Iran due to country’s defensive capability

Tehran, April 3, IRNA – The ongoing peace and security of the country is the result of nation’s solidarity in defense of revolution ideals and country’s defensive and security capabilities, Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani said on Sunday.

Speaking in parliament public meeting, he referred to recent terrorist actions in Turkey, Pakistan, Iraq and Belgium and praised security forces for establishment of sustainable peace in the country.

Larijani expressed his condolences with victims of recent terrorist actions and said these catastrophic events are the result of certain western and Arab countries’ approach towards terrorism.

Certain Arab and Western states tried to manipulate terrorists and strengthened them, he added.

The speaker noted that Iran had previously warned about spread of terrorism and supported Iraq and Syria legitimate governments against terrorist groups.

The ongoing peace and security of the country is the result of nation’s solidarity in defense of revolution ideals and country’s defensive and security capabilities, he said.

Larijani underscored that certain western states make up excuses to prevent progress of Iran’s missile capabilities, but their demands have no legal base.

Certain western states do not want a powerful Iran but regardless of their longstanding wishes, Iran should strengthen its deterrence power particularly its missile capability, he said.

Larijani encouraged Azerbaijan Republic and Armenia to deescalate tensions and resolve the dispute through negotiations.

Speaking about the third intifada in Palestinian occupied lands, he admired Palestinian nation for its honorable fight against the Zionist regime and criticized Saudi Arabia for bombardment of innocent people of Yemen.

The speaker congratulated Syrian nation and government victories in fight against terrorism and voiced hope that these developments result in opposition groups compromise by giving up evil wishes of their Arab and western supporters.
