Not Russia, after all: Americans believe terrorism is primary threat for US

Obama with its latest statement that Russia is the biggest threat to the US seems to be a far cry from what the rest of his country believes. According to a recent Gallup survey, Americans consider international terrorism and not any particular country as the most critical menace for their nation.

In fact, Russia ranks 12 inthe list ofthe US threats afterChina's military and economic power, refugee influx and global warming.
American adultswere askedwhat they saw aspossible threats toUS vital interests overthe next decade and 79 percent agreed that international terrorism possesses a crucial threat.


Iran's nuclear dealthat touted asa victory forthe Obama Administration doesn't appear tohave helped ease fears asAmericans still consider nuclear proliferation byIran asthe second most dangerous event that could put the country inturmoil.


Cyberterrorism withits 73 percent response rate has been named forthe first time inthe list ofthreats toAmerican, surprisingly ranking third.


The global spread ofviruses follow cyberterrorism at63 percent asrespondents believe that Ebola andZikainfectious diseases represent a significant danger forthe US.


The conflict inSyria is still inthe top five amongmenaces forthe US as58 percent believe that regional conflict could endanger the position ofthe country overthe upcoming ten years.
