Shamkhani: JCPOA implementation delay not acceptable

Tehran, Feb 16, IRNA Unusual delays in fulfilling obligations by other sides of nuclear talks is not acceptable, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani said on Tuesday.

The Joint Comprehensive Plan Of Action's Supervisory Council will adopt proportional measures against unusual delays by other side of talks in execution of the deal, he added.

Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a local ceremony, Shamkhani said that Syria crisis can only be resolved through negotiations and blocking the terrorists' supply routes.

He urged all sides of Syria talks to avoid adopting sabotaging measures that will halt continuation of talks and escalate the crisis.

Iran and the five permanent members of the UN Security Council the United States, Britain, France, China and Russia plus Germany finalized the text of an agreement dubbed the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) in the Austrian capital city of Vienna.

Based on the JCPOA, limits will be put on Irans nuclear activities in exchange for, among other things, the lifting of all economic and financial bans against the Islamic Republic.

Iranian officials, however, have already said that in case of a violation of the agreement by the P5+1 member, the Islamic Republic reserves the right to return to its peaceful nuclear activities to the scale that existed before the JCPOA.
