Iran, Italy sign MoU on ports

Iran and Italy have signed two memorandums of understanding (MoU) establishing trade ties between their ports, said a senior official in a report.

 

The recent deals between the two countries in port and marine areas were inked in Italy, Mohammad Saeednejad, managing director of Irans Ports and Maritime Organization, was quoted as saying in an Iran Daily report.

He said that the Free Port of Trieste, one of Italys largest ports located in the Adriatic Sea, seeks to establish trade ties with Iran, and on the basis of the agreement between the Italian port and the Iranian Shahid Rajaei port, the two sides plan to pursue common objectives with regard to expansion of transits as well as exchange of transit goods.

Saeednejad noted that the two ports agreed on technical and training cooperation, exchange of experience, holding technical and educational exercises as well as safety and firefighting drills.
