Kuala Lumpur, Jan 31, IRNA � Thailand�s Deputy Prime Minister Somkid Jatusripitak is to arrive in Tehran on Monday to hold trade and economic talks with Iranian officials.

He will be leading a senior economic delegation and will start negotiations in Tehran on Tuesday.

His visit aims at boosting trade and economic relations between the two countries in post-sanctions era.

During the four-day visit, the delegation which includes six ministers will explore ways of enhancing economic exchanges between the two nations.

70 of Thailand�s merchants, industrialists, bankers and senior private sector managers are to accompany the deputy prime minister in the visit.

Talking to IRNA on Wednesday, Iran's Ambassador to Thailand Mohsen Mohammadi said that the Thai official will consult on expansion of mutual ties after the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) and lifting of unfair anti-Iran sanctions.

Jatusripitak will talk with President Hassan Rouhani and Vice-President Mohammad-Hassan Shariatmadri on promotion of bilateral relations.

Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Monday had called for further expansion of Iran-Thailand relations.

Mohammadi said Thai Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai as well as ministers of science and technology, finance, energy and trade will accompany the Thai deputy prime minister in his visit.

The Thai foreign minister was invited by Iranian Minister of Industry, Mine and Trade Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh to visit the Middle Eastern nation on the occasion of the ninth meeting of the Joint Commission on Economic, Commercial, Industrial, Technical, Agricultural and Scientific Cooperation between Thailand and Iran.

Pramudwinai was asked to chair the opening ceremony of the joint meeting.

Both countries have agreed to help each other meet their needs. Iran can export fuel to Thailand and provide energy security, while Thailand can export rice and rubber, providing food security and supporting industrial productivity.
