Japan wants to boost relations with Iran in line with UN sanctions lifting

Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said that the Japanese government intends to support companies cooperating with Iran, including via the conclusion of the bilateral investment agreement.

TOKYO (Sputnik) Japan seeks todevelop cooperation withIran inline withthe removal ofeconomic sanctions introduced bythe UN Security Council, the countrys Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga said Monday.
"Measures will be taken quickly onthe basis ofUN Security Council decisions, the relevant departments are working onthe issue," he told reporters.


Suga added that the Japanese government intends tosupport companies cooperating withIran, including viathe conclusion ofthe bilateral investment agreement.

The European Union, the United States and the United Nations lifted their sanctions againstthe Islamic Republic afterthe International Atomic Energy Agency verified late onSaturday Tehrans compliance witha nuclear agreement.

Iran and six world powers the United States, Russia, China, France, Britain, and Germany signed a nuclear deal last July. It guaranteed the peaceful nature ofIran's nuclear program inexchange forsanctions relief.
