TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iran changed the name of an street near Saudi Consulate Mashhad City, northeastern Iran, to Sheikh Nimr al-Nimr in a bid to show protest against execution of the prominent Shiite Saudi cleric, said Chairman of Cultural, Social and Pilgrimage Commission of Mashhad City Council Majid Fatemi-Afraa.
He said the plan was approved in the council on Sunday and the municipality was obliged to change the name of the street to Sheikh al-Nimr.
The plan was to be implemented at the time of issuing the verdict of Sheikh al-Nimr, but it was not due to certain.
