Martyrdom of Iranian Sunnis in Syria foiled shots at division: Velayati

Shia and Sunni Muslims are both victims of terrorism in Syria, and in Iraq Sunni victims of acts of terror may outnumber Shias, Ali Akbar Velayati, an advisor to the Supreme Leader, said as he called on scholars, both Shiia and Sunni, to use Islamic proximity forums to close the gap.

Speaking after attending the opening session of a Shiite-Sunni Unity Conference in Tehran, the former foreign minister said the presence of Iranian Shias and Sunnis in Syria to take on Takfiri terrorists practically foils the plot foreigners hatch to create division among the ranks of Shia and Sunnis.
