Shariati commemoration ceremony planned

Sabzvar, Dec 17, IRNA Culture and Islamic Guidance Minister Ali Jannati said that efforts are underway to organize commemoration ceremony for the Iranian ideologue Ali Shariati in 2017 in Sabzvar in cooperation with Mashhad Ferdowsi University's Literature Faculty and Hakim Sabzvari University.

Talking to reporters while visiting Sarbedaran International Congress Exhibition in Sabzvar, he added that the late intellectual's works will be reprinted concurrent with holding the ceremony.

Translated version of his books will also be displayed in national and international levels, the minister said.

Meanwhile, Chancellor of Hakim Sabzvari University Javad Ahadnia said that Shariati commemoration ceremony will be held in 2017 in the form of a scientific and cultural conference.

He also hoped that the cultural event will help further recognition of the great teacher's intellectual dimensions.

Shariati was born in Mazinan, a suburb of Zabzvar in 1933. He was a religious researcher and political activist who died at the age 44 in England and laid to rest in Damascus.

His works include Hajj, Islamology, Desert (Kavir), Abuzar and Martyrdom.
Sabzvar is located 237 kilometers west of Mashhad.
