Two car bombs go off outside a hospital in the western Syrian city of Homs, with initial reports of casualties. ��

The official Syrian Arab News Agency reported on Saturday that earlier in the day, eight people had been killed and at least 25 others injured in one of the two attacks near Civil Hospital in Homs� al-Zahra neighborhood.

Russia�s Ria Novosti news agency, meanwhile, reported that more than 10 people died and dozens of others were wounded in the other attack near the al-Ahli hospital in the same neighborhood.

The Saturday attacks came even as foreign-backed militants have begun evacuating Waer, the last militant-held district in Homs. The evacuation, which began earlier in the week, came as part of a deal reached between the government in Damascus and the militants on December 1.

The agreement was reached following a meeting between the governor of the Homs province, Talal Barazi, and the representatives of militant groups present in Waer, including Syrian al-Qaeda branch al-Nusra Front, as well as civil society groups for the district, under the supervision of a UN delegation and representatives of UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan de Mistura.

According to the deal, the district will return to the full control of the Syrian government and some 2,000 militants are scheduled to leave gradually.

The foreign-sponsored conflict in Syria has claimed the lives of more than 250,000 people and left over one million injured since March 2011, according to the United Nations. The crisis has also displaced nearly half of the country�s population.
