Retaliatory attacks on ISIS for internal consumption within France

Alwaght- France has launched retaliatory attacks on ISIS's positions in al-Raqqa, the terrorist group's de facto capital in Syria.

Two days after ISIS claimed responsibility for Pars bloody attacks, France struck on Sunday dozens of targets including a command and control center, training camp and munitions warehouse, the countrys defense ministry announced in a statement .

The sites targeted inside Raqqa were identified in previous French reconnaissance missions, the statement said.

The targets in Sunday's airstrikes included a command center, a recruitment center, an ammunition storage base and a training camp for the terror group, said Mickael Soria, press adviser for France's defense minister .

Twelve aircraft, including 10 fighter jets, were involved in the airstrikes, Soria said, adding that twenty bombs were dropped and all of the targets were destroyed .

An ISIS media wing claimed the sites had been abandoned before they were hit and said there were no casualties, CNN reported .

France had the legitimacy to conduct airstrikes in Raqqa against Islamic State, the French foreign minister Laurent Fabius said on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Turkey, RT reported .

The air raid was a political decision, he said which shows that France is present and active following Fridays attacks .

However military analysts believe that types of targets French Air Force strikes right now really are symbolic. From the French perspective, something has to be done .

"Clearly, it's a military activity, but it really sends a very strong political message, and it's all for internal consumption within France," CNN cited retired Maj. Gen. James Spider Marks as saying.
