Larijani hails leader’s effective role in nuclear agreement

Tehran, Oct 27, IRNA – Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani once again appreciated the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei for his support in nuclear deal.

Speaking in Majlis public session, Larijani reiterated that Supreme Leader played an effective role in nuclear negotiations.

Larijani also appreciated Ayatollah Khamenei over his letter to President Hassan Rouhani about the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

In his letter, Ayatollah Khamenei warned against any breach of the deal by the other side.

The Supreme Leader noted that any remarks by the other side that says the structure of the sanctions will remain unchanged or imposition of any new sanctions on Iran at any level under any pretext would translate into the violation of the JCPOA.

Last week, Iran and P5+1 experts discussed technical aspects of JCPOA in Vienna and the outcomes of this session was presented to the first meeting of the joint commission.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said that Iran will enforce the Additional Protocol voluntarily and temporarily once the JCPOA goes into effect.

The Additional Protocol allows IAEA reinforced and intrusive inspections to Iranian nuclear sites and requires that information be provided on all activities regarding the nuclear fuel cycle.

Iran, a signatory to the Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), voluntarily implemented the Additional Protocol between 2003 and 2005, but ceased to apply it in reaction to referral of its nuclear file to the United Nations Security Council by the IAEA Board of Governors.
