Tehran, Oct 24, IRNA � Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in a telephone conversation Saturday underlined the need for increasing the international contacts to resolve the regional crisis and restore stability and security to region.

During the phone talk earlier today, Zarif and Lavrov discussed the latest situation in the Middle East.

Lavrov briefed his Iranian counterpart about contents and outcomes of Friday's meeting in Vienna, Austria that focused on Syria.

Zarif, for his part, elaborated on Iran's viewpoints for resolving the ongoing crisis in Syria and underscored the pivotal role of the Syrian nation for any solution to put an end to the war in the Muslim country.

The quadrilateral meeting between the US, Russia, Saudi Arabia and Turkey was held in Vienna on Friday in the absence of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
