Iran day to be celebrated in Milan expo 2015

TEHRAN (Tasnim) Irans representatives at Expo 2015 in Italys Milan are going to hold a cultural ceremony to celebrate Iran Day with music programs and traditional costume show, an official said.

Representatives from 100 countries in the Milan worlds fair as well as a number of Italian officials are expected to attend the ceremony, Mahdi Afzali, director general of Promotion of Modern Arts Organization told Tasnim on Saturday.

Iranian virtuoso traditional singer Salar Aqili will also go on stage during the event, he added.

Moreover, a group from Irans Azarbaijan region will perform a traditional program, designed to match the core theme of the Expo, Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life.

The official also noted that an Iranian folk music band will attend the Iran Day ceremony with traditional costume to play some songs.



The Expo Milano 2015 opened on May 1 and runs for six months.

The fairs organizers seek to advance a universal conversation on how to guarantee food for all while protecting the environment.

The Expo participants and the Italian government seek to create a document aimed at creating food security, fighting waste, combating hunger and guaranteeing good nutrition.

Visitors, businesses and civil society are invited to sign the so-called Milan Charter, which is to be presented to UN Secretary General Ban-Ki Moon when the fair ends.
