IRGC Commander: West in need of Iran nuclear deal

TEHRAN (Tasnim) - Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Mohammad Ali Jafari underlined that the countries negotiating with







"It is true that they are seasoned in negotiating, but they are after results in the talks , more than Iran is," the top commander said of the nuclear negotiations between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany).

He made the comments while attending a mass rally in Tehran on Friday, held to mark the International Quds Day.

"They need the nuclear talks more than we do," the general added.

Asked about the war rhetoric and threats of attacks on Iran in case of collapse of the nuclear talks, Major General Jafari dismissed the military threats as being of no value.

He underscored that the enemies "are aware that they cannot do a damn thing against Iran."

Certain Western countries have threatened time and again that all options, including military option, are on the table regarding the nuclear issue.

Senior Iranian officials have slammed the belligerent rhetoric, stressing that these are empty threats.

Meantime, diplomats from Iran and the Group 5+1 (also known as the P5+1 or E3+3) are engaged in tight diplomatic meetings in Vienna to clinch a lasting deal on Tehran's nuclear program.

Over the past two weeks, they have three times extended deadlines for completing a long-term nuclear agreement.
