Iran supports UN efforts for resolution of Yemen crisis: Deputy FM

Tehran, June 22, IRNA Iran supports UN efforts for resolution of Yemen crisis, Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Amirabdollahian said on Monday.

Speaking to IRNA, he said that Yemeni political groups will resume their talks in Geneva under the supervision of UN, adding that Yemen crisis could be resolved only through political ways and real dialogue.

All Yemeni political factions including Ansarullah support realistic and serious negotiations, the official added.

He noted that continuation of airstrikes against Yemen and besiege of the region have no Islamic or humane justification.

Tehran supports UN efforts for a halt to military attacks, removal of blockade and continuation of intra-Yemeni talks, Amirabdollahian said.

He added that Iran will also continue efforts for dispatch of fuel and food to Yemen under the UN and Red Cross supervision.

Yemen's Ansarullah delegation arrived Geneva last Tuesday.

The representatives of Yemens Ansarullah movement arrived the Swiss city of Geneva last Tuesday to attend the UN-brokered peace talks aimed at ending the deadly conflict in the Arab country.

Yemen has been since March 26 under brutal aggression by Saudi-US coalition.

Thousands have been martyred and injured in the attack, with the vast majority of them civilians.

Riyadh launched the attack on Yemen in a bid to restore power to Yemens fugitive president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi who is a close ally to Saudi Arabia.
