Esfahan plant produces 144 thousand tons of petrochemicals

TEHRAN May 12(Shana)--Esfahan Petrochemical Plant produced 144 thousand tons of petrochemical products last year of which 70 percent were used at home and 70 percent were exported to other countries.

Managing director of Esfahan petrochemical plant Amir Sotoudeh said the company's products included aromatics, benzene, toluene, paraxylene, Aurtuzaylyn and metallic anhydride which in addition to offering in burse are exchanged between petrochemical complexes as feedstock.

He further noted that the plant has exported its products to countries like India, China, Turkey, Singapore and Malaysia.

Sotoudeh pointed that turning crude materials to finished products will create value added.

The plant intends to boost self-sufficiency and domestic manufacturing in order to prevent exodus of foreign exchange from the country and at the same to move in the direction of completing the chain of value and realization of Economy of Resistance targets.

According to him, privatization in petrochemical sector has weakened the states supervisory role through NPC and Petroleum Ministry and has created some problems for the sector that may continue without revision.
