TEHRAN, May 11 (MNA) � Iran says Turkey�s prime minister�s cross-border trip into Syrian territory under the pretext to visit the tomb of Suleyman Shah can endanger region and further complicate the situation.

�The Islamic Republic of Iran stresses the need for respecting the sovereignty of other nations and believes the Turky�s Prime Minister trip to Syria could have dangerous consequences for the region and further complicate�the situation,� Iran�s Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham said on Monday.

�Unfortunately, some countries make calculation mistakes in regard to the regional developments, she added.

Afkham urged countries away from making any provoking moves, saying that respecting international law�and sovereignty of other nations is a known principle that must be observed by all countries.

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu crossed into Syria on Monday to visit the tomb of a revered Ottoman figure and has vowed Turkey's flag would fly there forever, prompting Syria's capital Damascus to accuse him of aggression.

The Syrian government condemned what it described as Davutoglu's 'infiltration'�without its permission.

The tomb had been on a site within Syria that Ankara considers sovereign territory as agreed in a 1921 treaty.

The Turkish government informed the Syrian consulate in Istanbul about the February operation but did not await Syria's agreement, which Damascus said violated the treaty.
