Belgrade, April 30, IRNA – President of Senate of Romania Calin Popescu Tariceanu called Iran as an important country in the Middle East region.
Tariceanu made the remark in a meeting with Iran’s Ambassador to Budapest Hamid Moayyer here on Wednesday.
Romania, he said, is willing to retain its close relations in cultural and political areas with the Middle East countries.
Romania, he stressed, is for stability in the region.
There would be no chance for economic cooperation in absence of stability, he said, adding that poverty helps spread terrorism.
Iran can play an important role to prevent tension in the region, the Romanian lawmaker said.
About Yemen, he said the crisis in that country will be solved only through holding talks with all sides within.
The Iranian diplomat, too, called for a halt in Saudi violation against Yemen and stressed peaceful solution for the Yemeni crisis.
Referring to the visit of a Romanian delegation to Tehran last year, Moayyer said the Iranian side is keen to visit Budapest in due time.
He at the end presented the message of Iran’s Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani to the Romanian Senate president which also focused on situation in Yemen.
