Saudi Arabia started its military aggression against Yemen on March 26 -- without a UN mandate -- in a bid to restore power to fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, who is a close ally of Riyadh.

On Tuesday, Saudi government spokesman Brigadier General Ahmed al-Assiri said in a televised broadcast that Riyadh ended the so-called Operation Decisive Storm upon a request by the Yemeni government and Hadi.

He claimed that Saudi Arabia had achieved its military goals in Yemen, adding that it would launch a second phase of its aggression dubbed "Restoring Hope".

On Wednesday, Saudi fighter jets pounded areasin the Yemeni provinces of Sanaa and Saada.

According to Yemeni health ministry, more than 950people have been killed since Saudi Arabia started its aggression in late March. Around 3,900 people have also been wounded during the aggression.
