MOSCOW (Sputnik) Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that the reaching ofa deal onIran nuclear program would allow Tehran todevelop its nuclear program withouteven having tobreach any provisions, the Haaretz newspaper reported Sunday, citing a government source.Iran has been suspected ofdeveloping a nuclear weapon underthe guise ofa civilian program. The Israeli leader is amongthe most prominent opponents ofthe deal which would ease upsanctions againstIran inexchange forTehran making its nuclear program more transparent.
According tothe source, Netanyahu said duringa meeting ofthe security cabinet it would be "impossible tocatch the Iranians cheating simply because they will not break the agreement.
The prime minister reportedly argued that the world powers would stop monitoring Iran's nuclear activities closely in10-15 years afterthe deal is signed. Thus, Iran would have the chance tocontinue its alleged work onthe development ofa nuclear weapon.
The meeting ofthe Israeli security cabinet was called followingthe signing ofa framework agreement onIranian nuclear program earlier inApril. Iran and six world powers, including Russia and the United States, have agreed tosign a long-term deal tillthe end ofJune.Under the agreement, The United Sates, the European Union and the UN Security Council would partially lift their nuclear-related sanctions followinga confirmation bythe International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) ofTehran's compliance withthe deal.
Last month, Netanyahu held a speech atthe US Congress inan attempt tothwart the deal he says is dangerous forthe Middle East security.
