Afkham condoles with Russia on sinking of fishing trawler

Tehran, March 7, IRNA Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Marzieh Afkham on Thursday expressed condolence to Russian government and nation on sinking of a fishing trawler which resulted in death of at least 54 people.




Afkham sympathized with the bereaved families of the victims.

A rescue mission to find survivors from the Dalniy Vostok fishing trawler, which sank in the Sea of Okhotsk off the Kamchatka Peninsula, continued through the Wednesday night. 54 people are confirmed dead, while 63 were rescued from the freezing waters. 132 people were confirmed to have been aboard the fishing vessel, when it sank.

Of the 132 crew members aboard the Dalniy Vostok, 78 are Russians and 54 are other nationals, including from Myanmar, Vanuatu, Latvia and Ukraine.
