Tehran, March 15, IRNA First Vice-President Es'haq Jahangiri said on Sunday that development of Tehran-Ankara cooperation can foil the Zionist regime's plots to escalate Islamophobia.

Jahangiri made the remarks in a meeting with Turkish Minister of Development Cevdet Y?lmaz.

He said that expansion of cooperation between the Iranian and Turkish governments can play a major role in solving regional issues.

Referring to numerous common grounds of the two nations and historic ties, Jahangiri said that Iran has no restriction to develop economic and cultural cooperation with Turkey.

He said that the level of trade has failed to keep up with level of the existing capacities.

'I believe that achieving the target of $30 billion for Iran-Turkey trade is not a difficult job but the obstacles should be removed.'

Jahangiri said that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will pay a visit to Iran in near future, hoping that a large section of the obstacles in the way of economic relations will be removed during the visit.

Y?lmaz, for his part, termed expansion of mutual cooperation essential to restore peace in the region, saying that the two countries currently shoulder heavy responsibilities at the current juncture.

Enhancement of Tehran-Ankara cooperation can secure regional nations' interests, he said.

Noting that Turkish government is determined to promote relations with Iran, Yilmaz said that Turkish government does not heed statements by certain individuals and media outlets.

'Turkish government's official stance for promoting ties with Iran is known to all,' he said.

There are a lot of areas of cooperation between Iran and Turkey, Turkish minister said, adding that Turkish president's visit to Iran will bring about great achievements in various fields such as fighting terrorism, solving regional conflicts and ISIL-related issues.
