TEHRAN, Feb. 23 (MNA) President Rouhani addressed seminar marking National Day of Engineering.

Addressing the gathering, President Rouhani asserted that achievements gained by the government have been due to supports from the Leader, efforts by the elites and support and presence of the nation.

Rouhani pointed to Irans nuclear program as an indicator of Irans self-sufficiency in reaching heights of knowledge. Iranian president slammed claims accusing Iran of pursuing a hidden enrichment program as a big lie and reaffirmed that Iran has always been clear in its nuclear program. We asked Europeans to provide us with enriched uranium; however, after wasting a lot of time, they refused to give Iran enriched uranium. Therefore, our scientists worked to make it indigenously and they did it, said Rouhani and emphasized that the achievement was made despite foreign voices and few voices inside the country believing it was impossible.

President also highlighted that partisan affiliations and political issues had no place in scientific programs and stated that all parties look for progress in the country. History will prove how successful Iran has been in different areas.

Rouhani also touched upon ongoing nuclear talks and asserted that whatever the outcome of the nuclear talks would be, Iran is proud of its diplomats in negotiations and appreciates their efforts.

He further invited engineers and scientists to help government with tacking different difficulties the country is facing, including water resource management, environment, energy, etc. Development and progress of the country would not be possible without participation and efforts by engineers.

National Day of Engineering Conference opened this morning with President Rouhanis address and Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh, Minister of Road and Urbanization Abbas Akhoundi, Secretary of Coordinating Council of Free Zones Akbar Torkan and Head of Presidential Office Mohammad Nahavandian attended the event in Milad Tower Hall.

Iran has marked February 24 as National Day of Engineering honoring its 13thcentury scientist Nasir al-Din al-Tusi who was born on February 24, 1201.
