Tehran, Feb 11, IRNA President Hassan Rouhani said on Wednesday that Iran's non-oil exports in the first ten months of the current Iranian calendar year (started on March 21, 2014) rose by 24 percent compared to that in the same period last year.

Addressing millions of Iranians gathering at Tehran's Azadi square to mark the 36th victory anniversary of the Islamic Revolution, the president said that Iran exported $42.6 billion worth non-oil commodities in the ten-month period, while figure for the preceding period stood at $34.3 billion.

'We also made significant progress in oil and gas areas despite sanctions and pressures,' Rouhani said. 'Our oil output has increased to 2.9 million barrels a day from 2.7 million barrels a day a year ago.'

Five phases of South Pars field are now producing gas, Rouhani said. 'Today, we produce an additional 100 mcm a day gas and god willing next year an extra 100 mcm will be added to our daily output,' the president added.

Rouhani also touched on the country's achievements in agricultural sector, saying, in spite of drought and a series of other problems, 'we registered a 2-million-ton increase in wheat production and bought 6.8 million tons of wheat over the past year.'

On his administration's measures to rein in soaring inflation, the president said: 'Last year, I promised you here to reduce 35% inflation to lower than 25%; now thanks god the inflation rate is below 17%.'
