Tehran, Jan 25, IRNA – Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said Saturday that Iran supports the territorial integrity of Yemen.
Amir-Abdollahian, who had attended a commission session to brief the lawmakers on the latest regional developments, called on Yemeni officials to allow the people to make further contributions to the power structure of the country, according to Naqavi Hosseini.
On the fate of Iranian diplomat, Nour Ahmad Nikbakht, taken hostage by unknown gunmen last year, Amir-Abdollahian said that that the Foreign Ministry is doing its utmost to have him released. However, he ensured that Mr. Nikbakht is in full health.
The lawmakers urged the Foreign Ministry to make every effort to pursue the release of Sheikh Ali Salman, Bahraini religious leader and Secretary-General of al-Wefaq Islamic Society in Bahrain, who is to stand trial for alleged breaching national security.
