Agiculture minister calls for more relations with China
Beijing, Jan 19, IRNA Minister of Agriculture Jihad Mahmoud Hojjati, who is in Beijing, has called for further bilateral cooperation between Iran and China.
In a meeting with his Chinese counterpart Han Changfu on Monday, Hojjati also called for removal of existing obstacles on the way of developing ties.
'Further deepening of Tehran, Beijing relations is on the agenda of both sides and it is hoped that current negotiations will help develop bilateral relations,' he added, stressing on Tehran's determination for constructive interaction with China.

He also said Iran and China have great potentials in agriculture and Tehran believes that more cooperation in this field can enhance bilateral ties.

Presenting a report on Iran's progress in agriculture, Hojjati said,'Iran, thanks to its varied climate and implementation of development plans, has achieved remarkable progress in some fields of agriculture and has started development in some other fields. I hope that this meeting can lead to creating necessary grounds for exchange of experiences.'

Referring to a visit to Tehran by China's deputy minister of agriculture in April, 2014, Hojjati said an MoU was signed in that trip and it is hoped that the MoU will be implemented so that a momentum can be given to relations in the field of agriculture.

Hojjati invited his Chinese counterpart to make a visit to Tehran.

The Chinese minister expressed his satisfaction on the meeting and said he was happy that bilateral relations have been steadily progressing since 1971 when the two countries began their diplomatic relations.

He said China tries to modernize its agriculture to be able to feed one billion and 300 million Chinese, an attempt which is a campaign to achieve world food security.

Also referring to a meeting between presidents of China and Iran on the sidelines of Shanghai Cooperation Organization session, the Chinese minister emphasized that agriculture is an important part of relations between Iran and China.
