Iran supports UN efforts to resolve Syria crisis: FM

Tehran, Jan 15, IRNA – Iran supports UN efforts to resolve Syria crisis in political ways, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Thursday.
Zarif made the remark in a meeting with the UN Special Envoy on Syria Staffan de Mistura on the sidelines of nuclear talks in Geneva.

Zarif urged international players involved in the Syria conflict to have a constructive cooperation to resolve issue in political ways with respect to the country’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.

Iranian foreign minister held talks with the US Secretary of State John Kerry on Wednsday.

The meeting between the two top diplomats was held prior to the bilateral talks of their deputies to be held in the Swiss city on January 15-17.

The planned three-day engagements would be followed by a political-director level talks to be held on January 18 between the Islamic republic and the P5+1 countries (US, Britain, China, France and Russia plus Germany).
