TEHRAN Dec 02 (Shana)--Phase 12 of South Pars gas field is preparing a 1.5-million-barrel cargo of gas condensate to be exported next week, head of Phase 12 refinery said.
Jamshid Sourani said it would be the fifth cargo of condensates, adding that the previous four cargoes each weighed 4.7 mb.
He said the sulfur content of gas condensate produced in Phase 12 of South Pars is nearly zero.
He added that Phase 12 is currently producing 250 tons a day of sulfur. Once fully developed, Phase 12 is expected to produce 120,000 b/d of gas condensate, 3 bcf/d of sweet gas and 750 tons a day of sulfur.
South Pars covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, 3,700 square kilometers of which are in Irans territorial waters in the Persian Gulf. The remaining 6,000 square kilometers are situated in Qatars territorial waters. The gas field is estimated to contain a significant amount of natural gas, accounting for about eight percent of the worlds reserves, and approximately 18 billion barrels of condensate.
