Rome, Nov 26, IRNA – Italian Foreign Minister Paolo Gentiloni said on Wednesday that Iran is a key player in settlement of crises in the region.
He made the remarks in a meeting with the visiting Head of Iran’s Department of Environment Masoumeh Ebtekar.
He said everyone was aware of Iran’s special position in the region and its key role in settling disputes there.
He further voiced his country’s readiness to expand cooperation with Iran.
Gentiloni underlined the importance of bilateral and multilateral cooperation in tackling environmental problems.
Pointing to the friendly ties between the two countries, Ebtekar said Iran and Italy could have close cooperation in environmental issues in addition to politics and economy.
Ebtekar, who is also Vice President, arrived here on Tuesday for a two-day stay upon the invitation of her Italian counterpart to explore avenues to further boost bilateral cooperation.
