South Pars fifth gas sweetening unit starts operation

BUSHEHR, Nov. 17 (MNA) The contractor of South Pars 12th phase has said the fifth unit of gas sweetening unit has entered operation phase after pilot stage.
Rasoul Fallahinejad told reporters on Sunday that 12th phase was the greatest such phase in South Pars gas field, and Petropars Co. worked as the major contractor to launch the phase.


The phase will produce and contribute 65 million cubic meters of natural sweetened gas daily to countrywide network with fully entering operation; the A Platform currently is in the grid with 25 million cubic meters daily, he added.


Fallahinejad said that the company had launched the third lane of South Pars 12th phase which would receive sour and dry natural gas from the fifth pipeline of the national grid. The phase will receive 500 million cubic feet of gas from fifth pipeline daily; the total capacity of the pipeline is 1 billion cubic feet, he added.


South Pars gas field is one of the most massive reservoirs of natural gas and a major source of energy for country, which is shared with Qatar in Persian Gulf.
