Senior MP: Duma delegation visit to Iran showing Russia
TEHRAN (FNA)- Chairman of the Iranian Parliament's National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi underlined that the ongoing visit by Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Sergei Naryshkin and his accompanying delegation shows that Moscow has much interest in expanding bilateral ties with Tehran.
Boroujerdi's remarks came after Naryshkin and his accompanying delegation arrived in Tehran on Sunday for a two-day visit to confer on the latest regional and international developments as well as explore ways to promote bilateral ties.

"This visit (by Russian Duma delegation) shows that Russia pays special heed to its relations with Iran under the present regional conditions," Boroujerdi said on Monday.

Boroujerdi noted that the high-ranking Russian parliamentarians who are visiting Iran are due to meet Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani and Chairman of Iran's Expediency Council (EC) Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani.

Boroujerdi said that he is also due to have meetings with the heads of Duma's defense and foreign relations committees.

"The Russian delegation will leave Tehran on Monday evening," Boroujerdi said.

A high-ranking Russian delegation, including several chairmen of the committees of the State Duma, are accompanying Naryshkin in his working trip.

In the last several years, Iran and Russia have had vast cooperation in different fields, specially in political and economic spheres.

The two states also enjoy special positions on the international scene and have long had constant and regular consultations on key regional and global issues.
