Meeting to address Persepolis in Achaemenid ideological system

Meeting to address Persepolis in Achaemenid ideological system
TEHRAN, Nov. 12 (MNA) Iranian Artists Forum will hold meeting to discuss the place of Persepolis in Achaemenid ideological system on November 16.
Ahmad Pakatchi and Kamyar Abdi will be keynote speakers in the 6th archeo-semiological session titled Examination of the Place of Persepolis in Achaemenid Ideological System. The Iranian Artists Forum will host the meeting in Amirkhani meeting hall.

Unlike their preceding dynasties in the Middle East, Achaemenids based their rule more on institutionalized ideology than the resort to coercion and violence; this fundamental change bestows a lusterous glow to Achaemenids world view. Since ideologies always seek to concretize themselves and this is possible only using cultural components present on the environment, studying relics of Achaeminid era would reveal much about their ideology.

With this in mind, the meeting will focus on assessing the ideological significance of Persepolis in wider context of Achaemenid rule. Persepolis is one of the most important cultural heritages of the world and Iran. The monument has had affected audience differently in different times during its history of rising to the fame and falling to unpopularity. It is not a mere architectural masterpiece, but a text codified with the most profound ideological meanings. The entirety of the building is ideological itself, and its many components including art and architecture and inscriptions and even the plan all serve the ideology of the creators of the ancient masterpiece.
