Tehran, Nov 11, IRNA – President Hassan Rouhani said here on Tuesday that the Iraqi people and army are capable of defending their country against terrorists.
President Rouhani made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Iraqi Vice-President Nuri Al-Maliki.
He reiterated that Iraq does not need the military presence of any foreign country.
Rouhani underscored that Iran has stood beside Baghdad in fight against terrorism, adding Tehran has always assisted the Iraqi nation unconditionally.
He said Iran attaches great importance to protecting Iraq’s solidarity and sovereignty.
Al-Maliki, for his part, said the region is endangered by both terrorism and foreign conspiracies.
Baghdad has been successful in taking control of the situation through assistance of friendly countries and materializing the national reconciliation plan, he added.
