The 2014 edition of Japanese Cultural Week in Iran has been held in the capital city of Tehrans Niavaran Cultural Complex.
The festival which is annually held in Iran started this years program with the performance of Japanese traditional drum and flute artists.

Organized by the Japanese embassy, the festival aims to introduce the arts and cultural heritage of the Asian country.

Visitors to the festival are treated to authentic Japanese food and snacks, presentations of traditional music, dramatic works of classic Japanese fairy tales, and martial arts demonstrations.

Japanese origami, calligraphy, cartoon and childrens photography are to be presented at the festival.

The event will also host Japanese traditional festival dubbed Omatsuri at Tehrans Andisheh Cultural Center on October 16.

While Iran and Japan have many common beliefs in culture such as hospitality, patience, respecting family and friendly manner, the decision was made to boost the two nations' cultural ties, Japan's former Ambassador to Tehran Kinichi Komano had earlier expressed.

Iran and Japan have rich cultures, and the cultural and artistic exchanges can pave the path for the development of mutual understanding between the two nations, Komano added.

Iranian historical city of Isfahan and Japan's Kyoto were named sister cities on the sidelines of the meeting held at the Japanese cultural week in Isfahan in 2012.
